Inmate texting apps are the most text inmate effective way to stay in touch with a family member or friend who is currently imprisoned. These apps are designed to be in compliance with prison regulations and permit family and friends to send messages, photos, video calls, eCards and money to their trust account in prison. There are additional federal inmate apps that provide additional services, such as phone calls and video visits.
The JPay application, for instance, enables family and friends to easily pay money into the trust account of an inmate, as well as images, emails videos, eCards, and eCards. It also lets users create personalized postcards using their own images. It's a safer, more secure alternative to regular mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut that provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The application is available at federl inmate texting select correctional facilities, and allows inmates to upload images and text messages to family members and friends using their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 for each message, and loved ones pay for the data that is used to read their messages (but not for explicit photos). The GettingOut application can be used to upload a photo to Facebook or Foursquare and check-in to Foursquare and also add an YouTube video.
