Inmate Text App
Inmate texting apps are the best method of keeping in contact with a family member or friend who is currently behind bars. These apps are designed to comply with prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send messages, pictures video calls, eCards and money to their trust accounts at prison. There are also federal inmate apps which provide additional services like video visits and phone calls.
JPay is one example. It allows friends and family members to transfer money directly to an inmate's trust account as well as videos, emails, photos and eCards. They can also design personal postcards with their own images. It also provides a safer and more secure alternative to traditional mail.
Another popular app for texting inmates is GettingOut. It allows "simple reliable and safe communication" between inmates and their loved family members. The app, available in select correctional facilities lets inmates upload photos as well as text their family members and friends using their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 per message and their loved ones pay cost of accessing them (but they are not explicit images). You can also use the GettingOut application to share a photo on Facebook or Foursquare and check-in on Foursquare and then include a video in upload to YouTube upload.
